On Friday, November 27, Port Metro Vancouver urged the Government of Canada to pursue every avenue available to them to encourage CN and TCRC to resume negotiations or otherwise reach a settlement, as effectively and as quickly as possible.

On November 25, CN received notice from the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) of its plan to strike at 0001 on November 28, 2009. CN and the TCRC will meet to discuss the contract on November 27 with the help of federal mediators. CN intends to continue train operations in the event of job action.
