OMOC Liaison Officers

2/19/2010 12:00:00 AM

Port Metro Vancouver is pleased to introduce our Olympic Marine Operations Centre (OMOC) Liaison Officers Bradley Old, Kate Slade, Natalie Anderson and Yves Gauthier.

Our 4-member team provides port-specific knowledge to the OMOC to help maintain marine security and minimize disruptions to port business during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

With almost 75 years of experience among them, our OMOC Liaison Officers have worked in a broad range of settings including Navy, Coast Guard, Police, Transport Canada and Port Metro Vancouver, aboard search and rescue vessels, patrol boats and even tall ships.

Bringing this knowledge and experience to the OMOC table, the team provides daily port operational reports, ship movements, marine event information and localized port knowledge. The Port team is joined by the RCMP, Navy, Transport Canada, Coast Guard, and CBSA.

Participants work together to maintain watch over the coastal waters of British Columbia, the Strait of Georgia and Port jurisdiction during the Olympics. Participation at the OMOC marks the first time a port authority has been allowed to participate in a joint operations centre in Canada.
