1913
The New Westminster Harbour Commission (left), the North Fraser Harbour Commission and Vancouver Harbour Commission are established.
The building of the North Arm Jetty and dredging of a proper channel through the North Arm of the Fraser River allows for a deep, negotiable waterway.
1914-1918
The first grain elevator is constructed in Vancouver, because of predictions there would be an increase in Vancouver's grain trade with the construction of the Panama Canal. Within a year of completion, the elevator was breaking all world records for grain trade.
