October 13, 2009

At a news conference held at the Ballantyne Cruise Terminal, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced funding to enhance Vancouver's South Shore Trade Area. The Federal Government, along with Port Metro Vancouver, the City of Vancouver, Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian National Railway will jointly fund a number of infrastructure projects, at a total cost of $125 million.

“Port Metro Vancouver continues to focus on building for the future with sustainable growth initiatives, in cooperation with all levels of government, and with the commitment of our industry partners,” said Robin Silvester, President and Chief Executive Officer, Port Metro Vancouver. “Improvements to the South Shore Trade Area will support economic development throughout the region and contribute to the success of the Asia-Pacific Gateway.”
