Environmental Assessment

The Deltaport Terminal, Road and Rail Improvement Project began a screening-level environment assessment under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) in October 2011. As part of the Federal government’s plan for Responsible Resource Development, which seeks to modernize the regulatory system for project reviews, the CEAA was repealed when the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012) came into effect on July 6, 2012.

Though the Deltaport Terminal, Road and Rail Improvement Project was no longer subject to review under CEAA 2012, Port Metro Vancouver continued the environmental assessment review in order to meet the requirements of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012), and Port Metro Vancouver's Environment Policy.
