On February 15, 2013, Port Metro Vancouver issued a project permit to Beedie Development Group to develop a light industrial warehouse distribution facility at 501 Boyd Street in New Westminster.
About the project
On Wednesday September 5th, 2012 Beedie Development Group submitted a project permit application (PP#2012-104) to Port Metro Vancouver to develop a light industrial warehouse distribution facility located at 501 Boyd Street, New Westminster.
Proposed activities for the site include handling of materials from incoming container trucks and loading those materials into outbound trucks for distribution across Canada.
The long term intent for this site includes construction of three light industrial warehouses to be completed in three phases over several years:
Phase 1 (currently under permit review)
The first phase includes the construction of an enclosed building (approximately 43,000 square feet) which would be completed by summer 2013. This first phase is the subject of the project permit application (PP 2012-104). Any additional developments beyond phase one will be subject to a new project permit review by Port Metro Vancouver.
Phases 2 and 3 (subject to future review)
Future phases include two additional buildings, subject to future market conditions. Presently, phase two is anticipated to be completed in 2014 and phase three in 2016. Currently phase two and three building configurations are conceptual and the final building size and shape is yet to be finalized.
A transportation study of the traffic implications of this development has been commissioned.
Beedie Development Group will host an open house on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 83 Star Crescent, New Westminster. A presentation to the Queensborough Residents Association will follow.
