Richardson International Grain Storage Capacity

About the project

Richardson International’s Grain Storage Capacity Project proposal includes the erection of two slip form concrete annexes at the east end of the existing facility, as well as the installation of conveyors and automatic dust filter systems.

Specific construction activities include:

• Demolition of three existing Pellet Storage Bins (10,000 metric tonnes total capacity)
• Installation of approximately 494 open ended steel wall piles, and 315 timber piles
• Construction of two 40,000 metric tonne concrete storage annexes approximately 54 m high (176 ft.) and a total length of 172 m (565 ft.)
• Upgrade and installation of new dust filter systems within existing workhouse
• Construction of a covered silo roof distribution conveyors and support towers
• Installation of a new motor control center (MCC) room on annex roof
• Widen and upgrade existing south access road
• Reconfiguration of rail infrastructure
• Installation of mechanical and electrical systems
• Relocation of existing utilities and installation of new utilities
• Installation of noise mitigation measures and noise monitoring plan

As part of the Port’s project permit review process, Richardson International consulted with the local community and First Nations. The application was referred to the City of North Vancouver for comment.
